MAKING WAVES: Art, Play and Mindfulness with Sound is an event taking place on Thursday, July 23, 2026 in the Upper Valley.
This event is held at Unknown, VT.
For early childhood educators.
Sound and Light are ephemeral materials, moving and changing just like young children — and they have incredible potential for scientific exploration and creative expression.
In these workshops, teaching artist Rebecca Mack leads early childhood educators in reimagining ordinary classroom objects and circumstances as tools to manipulate sound and light, understanding both as waveforms of energy.
The Sound Workshop (Thursday, July 23, 6-8pm at the Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium in St.
Johnsbury) introduces activators and resonators as basic components for understanding and creating with sound, with classroom applications including mindfulness, mapping, listening walks, music, and descriptive language.
Both workshops are supported by Rebecca's illustrated book, A Handbook of Sound and Light, and are FREE, though advance registration is required.
Attendees receive Documentation of Professional Development.
Presented with support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Vermont Arts Council.
